APPROACHES TO PAINTING IN WATERCOLOR WITH KAY BARNES

October 4, 5, 6, 7, 2010

Kay is a Signature member the California Watercolor Society. She is past president of Eastside Association of Fine Arts (Bellevue, WA) and a Signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society.  Having exhibited widely, her works hang in many corporate and private collections.

The focus of this workshop will be working with a variety of approaches in one painting.  We will paint the large shapes as an underpainting using sectional wet into wet passages.  We will then proceed to layer in colors, isolating and defining more specific elements as the painting progresses.  The various approaches used to create the painting will include wet into wet, wet on dry, charging color and glazing.  The workshop experience will challenge your skills and help develop new ones.  We will let you determine the subject matter and approaches that suit that subject most effectively.  Kay will provide a comprehensive lecture and demo in the mornings, and assist you with your efforts in the afternoons.  Each day a different subject will be offered.  Join us for a lively and rewarding journey with a lot of encouragement and support from a master teacher.
